The story of Belle Salon Co so far...
We met at The Summit Salon Academy formally The Salon Professional Academy in 2006. For 2 1/2 years we went to school weeknights and on Saturdays while working full time and taking care of our young sons. Right before graduation we were offered a studio for lease in University Place. Robin quit her full time job to be ALL IN. Charla continued working at her day job and taking clients at night and weekends.
Life took an unexpected turn in early 2012 when a city sewer line backed up into our building. We found ourselves up to our knees in you know what and we were forced to relocate. A client referred us to a very nice lady in Proctor that let us work in her salon until we could find a new space of our own. By fate, Robin pulled into a parking lot to take a phone call and behold...there was a For Lease sign for an existing salon space...Our next adventure was about to begin!
Blessed to have amazing friends and family that helped us make some big changes to a very dated space. We opened Belle within just a few weeks!
After cruising through life for a couple of years we felt there was something big on the horizon. WE WERE RIGHT!!! The space downstairs on the front of our building became available and we were approached by the owners to make the move. Scary? YES! Did we go for it? YOU BET!
Once again friends & family to the rescue...we were back in construction mode. This time it took longer due to the extremely stressful permit process and creative differences. We learned valuable lessons about city and county government. After 11+ gallons of paint, multiple inspections, too much Big Hair Band music & countless hours of cleanup...Charla finally quit her job, we took on a partner, and we were in full on Boss Mode!
After 2 years, we remodeled once more by tearing down the treatment room to create a perfect space. Our cute little booth rental salon consisted of 4 styling stations and 3 of the most comfortable shampoo bowls in all the land. Over a few more years we had a few stylists come and go. Then it was Robin, Charla, & Miya. Pure bliss but something was still missing.
In fall of 2019 we headed across the country for a business conference...BOOM! It was time to LEVEL UP. With very shaky hands & confident hearts we signed a lease for a way bigger space with the darkest blue walls you've ever seen. Once again we were going to be neighbors with our pal Jen at Paper Luxe. LET'S GOOOOO!
January to early March of 2020 was full of permits, design, planning, painting, hiring our first employees (eeeek), and then full stop!!! Yep you guessed it. The C word. Looking back...wow what a wild time!
